The Lakewood Area Shelter Association (LASA), which began in 1989 in Lakewood, Washington to get families back into permanent housing and to prevent recurrent homelessness, is changing its name to Living Access Support Alliance and updating its logo.
LASA, which also works with other groups like Caring For Kids by donating clothes and other items to needy individuals and families, is removing the words Lakewood and shelter from its name as well as to embracing the fact it houses people throughout the Pierce County in Washington.
LASA provides outreach services, including utility and rent assistance and other emergency needs for almost 700 local households in 2010, according to their annual report.
